UNFAIRNESS
Geez, it’s unkind out there
my squeeze owns a Stradivarius fiddle
we bought it together
at a pawn shop on East Ohio Street
a bowery
where people don’t know much about violins
didn’t cost much
worth millions
but the hurt we both felt
when a long-dead concert fiddler
came to us from the spirit world
for her recital
and he said she wasn’t too great
‘I have a Stradivarius, too,’
she screamed
‘you stupid coke-snorting alkie’
