UNDERNEATH THE COVER

underneath the cover
of my lover
body
thoughts
her liquid lobby
and humorous retorts-

the softer
earthy feelings
of nature croft her,
grown in good dirt
under rain and sun,
cut but not hurt
potato peelings-
wiped on her shirt,
fall open, become.

i found her in the prologue of youth,
a stream of truth,
running through the language
and landscape of everything changed
by mad men doing strange
collateral damage
from rooms in primitive passages
like civilized savages,
deciding who should wear the hats
of happiness and hardship
from wasted combats.

i, and more, miss
the sip
of her drip
come to this
time slip
from bliss
into sedated and murled
dark love in the world.

YET EVERYONE HAS PERFECT HAIR

silver birches stand like thieves,
and in the distance humans grieve,
broken, like the northern sky-
draping sad sarcophagi.

a funeral. a sad affair-
yet everyone has perfect hair,
to weep and pray and sing or mime
and gossip over wake wine.

in Nicaragua, guns are shooting boys in uniform-
pawns of Bear and Eagle, beautifully born.

Strider Marcus Jones – is a poet, law graduate and former civil servant from Salford, England with proud Celtic roots in Ireland and Wales.
