Idea Man by Craig Kirchner

Idea Man

He glides out of the White Box
on Skateboard One.
Screws the 100-watt light bulb
into his nicked left ear,
it flashes on and off
as the perspiration on his forehead
is cooled by the miniature fan,
he mounts on a neck brace,
atop his red, white and blue suit
that holds his headset,
and keeps him in constant touch with
marketing, Musk and the war room.

He has not officially resolved
what the next product will be,
[Bibles were good, sneakers sold out]
or at what target group it will be pointed.
He is sure, however,
that when all the cabinet appointments,
and expulsions of enemies within are complete,
there will be no need for a patent:
three easy monthly payments,
and first born only
will be more than reasonable.

Craig Kirchner is retired and living in Jacksonville. He loves the aesthetics of writing, has a book of poetry, Roomful of Navels, and has been nominated three times for a Pushcart.
