Midnight Matinee
I had a dream I was kidnapped
by Mole People,
at the midnight matinee.
They tore themselves from
the screen, showed me
what theater they’d made underground.
We ate stale popcorn,
watched movies with rubber
monsters and saucers on strings.
‘THEM!’ I screamed,
and they looked at me
as though I’d set fire
to the screen.
