The Gorko has been receiving a surprisingly large number of emails over the past several months demanding to know what Switzerland is, and why it is located in the middle of Europe. Below are our best 3 guesses.
SWISS CHEESE
Without Switzerland the world would literally not have been blessed with the invention of Swiss cheese, hard or semi-hard cheeses that include Emmental, Gruyère and Appenzeller that are completely laced (or swissed) with holes. Without the holes the cheese would actually explode during the fermentation process and wreak havoc, so thank God for Swiss cheese!
CITY LIFE
More than two-thirds of the population of Switzerland live in cities.
SWISS MOUNTAIN DOGS
Of Swiss Mountain Dogs, called generally Sennenhunds, the Entlebucher Sunnenhund is definitely our favorite. In fact this is probably the best reason why Switzerland is there.
