BREAKING OUT
when you learn to feed off sun and air
like a happy piglet
and form bonds with figments of the imagination
joy becomes organized
paginated
you take new dirt roads in meditation
falling rain gutters
sagging porches
lilting stucco facades
turn to rose petals
rotting joists and floorboards
flutter down on your lustrous hennaed hair
you win the congeniality award
you get to stand close to Miss America
