Stuck With Me
‘Stick with me honey and you’ll fart through silk.’
A phrase which I cannot yet erase from memory
words which by today’s delicate sensitivities
are inappropriate in so many ways and yet
describe commitment, affection and luxury.
I would rid myself of this coarse vulgarity,
related to me decades ago by a bosun’s mate,
but when my commitment is questioned
I think of gluteal comfort, concealed luxury
and a loving tolerance of flatulence.
