Parable
‘Apex of the Parabola’ is his royal title.
He coördinates subordinates in a symmetrical axis.
Sometimes he’s sharp, other times he spirals;
he contains methods of exhaustion but no catharsis.
Tangents tangle in triangles when he inscribes his commands!
Infinite chords fold together when he issues new blueprints!
Figures suggest it’s because geometry is in his bones—
the whole world appears in his eyes like an ice-cream cone.
But I spied him once where the planes intersect,
between his base corners like a tortoise trapped by its shell.
He was upside-down teary-eyed at the vertex,
crying, ‘Sometimes I feel just like Dante in Hell.’
