LIFE GAVE ME PANCAKE BATTER AND A HOT GRIDDLE, SO I MADE PANCAKES

Some people and you know who you are come into the kitchen expecting a full American breakfast: eggs over-easy, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, pork gravy, biscuits, grits, coffee, orange juice, white and whole wheat buttered toast with marmalade, and a waiter all of their own.

For me I am content when I walk into the kitchen and there is a smoking hot griddle and a bowl of pancake batter ready to fry. I take what life gives me, and if there is a bit of hot coffee on the hob, too, well that is my gravy.

Hey where in the hell is the maple syrup. Are we out of maple syrup?

  1. Aye, pancakes but no maple syrup. It’s what life doesn’t give you that makes all the difference. Unless you’re, say, a certain 11 year old of my acquaintance. Pancakes without syrup for him.
