As many fans of Gorko chef Rambo Bolillo’s world-famous cooking show know so well, our own ‘Lone Wolf Flambé’ likes his meats extra smoky. ‘I go hard on smoky,’ quipped the affable gourmand, apparently waving a fire extinguisher, ‘and not just on meats.’ Here are the 3 smokiest dishes that ever got Rambo Bolillo fired!
(Note to concerned readers: Not to worry, Rambo always lands on his feet! After fleeing the smoldering Le Butchón in Chicago, which was in need of remodeling anyway, he was immediately offered free room on our couch in exchange for private food and beverage hospitality services. That was last October.)
BEEF BRISKET: LE BUTCHÓN, CHICAGO IL.
Rambo was fired from Le Butchón in Chicago after burning the place down while attempting to smoke a beef brisket in the staff bathroom. Well technically he only THINKS he was fired. ‘I am not the kind of guy to be always looking back,’ he told Gorko reporters last October. ‘In this line of work you just have to suck it up, learn from your mistakes, and soldier on.’
CHEERIOS: RMP, DODGE CITY KS.
‘I was run out of RMP in Dodge City after attempting to add a bit of smoke to Janelle Monáe’s breakfast cereal,’ confessed the beleaguered bigleague cook. ‘I thought the Cheerios turned out fine, more bitter than I would have liked, but I finished off the dish with a little dash of [redacted — chef’s secret], should have done the trick.’
RATATOUILLE: GORKO HEADQUARTERS, PEORIA IL.
We woke up this morning and thought the house was on fire because it was completely filled with smoke, but it was just Rambo had left his world-famous ratatouille in the oven while he went to see his dealer, and one thing led to another. We changed the locks on the front and back doors, but are melancholy about the entire affair. We sure are going to miss Rambo’s smoky creations.
