Apparently taking both title AND pen name from successful pop lit author Tommy Orange’s ‘ambitious family saga’ (David Lewis at The Masters Review) Wandering Stars, Gorko subleaser and Entertainment Editor Mitchell Kennedy has been working on his own multi-generational epic, one that places himself at the center in the character of Cheyenne Argot Bluefeather Mitchell, a young and handsome (this is made repeatedly clear) Native American journalism student who is suffering from PTSD after witnessing a pack of dogs tear apart his beloved hamster Scuffles. We found the following excerpt stuffed under Mitch’s futon in the basement, and could not wait to share it with you! Enjoy.

Wondering Stars
THE NEW NOVEL FROM MITCHELL ORANGE
‘You have to take your medicine, Bluefeather,’ the nurse with the thin lips said to Cheyenne Argot Bluefeather Mitchell, whose gaunt but handsome face lay sweating on the hospital pillow like [find a good metaphor to finish this description, that accents Mitchell’s good looks….like a golden mackerel? like a brown-frosted cake with two cherries for eyes!].
‘They killed my hamster,’ breathed the perfectly shaped lips of Bluefeather Mitchell, ‘they tore his arms and legs from his torso off, pulling his innocent furry body between them,’ he managed, before letting out a pretty sob like a [metaphor! think of a good one! a dying gasp? click of a girl’s music box? distant truck downshifting onto a turnpike?].
‘You got to get up outta that bed and stop feeling sorry for yourself, well-shaped little Bluefeather Mitchell,’ put in the nurse’s aid Rowanda, punching the prostrate Native American third-semester journalist major lightly in his strong bicep. ‘You got to get out there and live life while you can!’
Yet the handsome features of Cheyenne Argot Bluefeather Mitchell’s face only twitched with horror as he pictured the events of the past Tuesday when he lost his best and only friend. It was like when you step on a mousetrap [no no no, think of something better…this is important! pathos, Mitchell, more pathos! like when you are seven years old and forget your teddy bear in the restaurant and when you go back it is gone but then you see Melissa Applebaum carrying one EXACTLY LIKE IT at school so you knock her down and take it but it turns out it is NOT MISTER PAWS IT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STUFFED ANI
And that is as far as Mitchell Orange got with this one. We look forward to sharing more of this hot mess the next time Mitch adds pages to the futon!
