All indications are that the shaft the man identified as Patty Jelly fell down late last night was a hole he himself had excavated during the course of the afternoon, while ‘looking for gold’.
‘Yeah Patty Jelly likes to go digging for gold when he gets in one of his states,’ reported his best and only friend, Gorko Chef Rambo Bolillo. ‘He was extremely angry at the shaft even though we explained to him that is was a shaft of his own making.’
The shaft, dug under the floorboards of Patty Jelly’s shed in his own backyard, extended to a depth of twelve feet by the time its unfortunate creator, intending to rest on his pickaxe, slipped and fell into it.
The shaft digger suffered some scratches and a nasty welt on the forehead, but appears to be perfectly fine now. When asked if he had recovered any gold in the shaft, the local man refused to give any comment.
