Rearview Mirror: Cartoons by Tamizh Ponni VP

Artist statement

In retrospection, 2D is funnier than 3D. Just like how we appreciate nostalgia by deliberately leaving out the ugly parts, art made from memories smoothens the rough edges of life. Tragedies turn technicolor. The words on my notes app alone couldn’t do justice to the strange ideas that visited me at night. These cartoons were the result of that purge. They have tints of my nomadic childhood, lonely teenage and peri mid-life crisis.
