about the artist

John Kucera (aka Mister Siepkes) is a serial plagiarist best known for ripping off ‘In the Fifth Month of Lockdown I Plant Clematis’ by John Minczeski, originally published in One Art in 2022. He is practically unstoppable. Today’s featured plagiarism, ‘Gazelle of unfended Láatsi’ was in fact originally written by Antonio Palabra-Bodega and published in 1924. It is one of the most famous poems to come out of the Decepcionados modernist movement of southern Mexico, so it is a little surprising our poetry editor didn’t notice it was not an original work. Yes, it was in translation, but no excuses! The only authorized English translation, by our own Tark Mackintosh, was also published in The Gorko in February 2022. We so stupid!
